Resumen de Taxi Driver de Martin Scorsese

O presente artigo busca realizar um estudo sobre o filme Taxi Driver, lançado em 1976 e dirigido pelo cineasta Martin Scorsese. Procuramos entender a relação da obra cinematográfica com a conjuntura histórica do período, tanto a dos Estados Unidos, como também a de Hollywood. Com essa finalidade, discorreremos sobre o contexto da indústria cinematográfica norte-americana na época de produção do longa-metragem, atentando para as características da Nova Hollywood (1967-1980). Em seguida, trabalharemos como a película dialoga com o ambiente sociopolítico do país marcado, entre outras questões, pela Guerra do Vietnã, criminalidade urbana e ceticismo em relação à política após o escândalo de Watergate.
Defendemos que Travis Bickle, protagonista da história, personifica muitos dos traumas e anseios enfrentados pela sociedade norte-americana da época.

This article aims at studying the movie Taxi Driver, released in 1976 and directed by the filmmaker Martin Scorsese. We seek to understand the relationship of the cinematographic work to the historical context of the period, both the US as well as the Hollywood. To achieve this, we will discuss the context of the American film industry in the production epoch of the film, noting the characteristics of the New Hollywood (1967-19800), then, work as the film dialogues to the political and social context of the country, impacted by, among other issues, the Vietnam War, urban crime and skepticism about the political in the period after the Watergate scandal. We argue that Travis Bickle, protagonist of the story, embodies many of the traumas and anxieties faced by the american society of the time.
