Resumen de La neutralidad política de la iglesia en la transición: del distanciamiento de la democracia cristiana a la “bendición” del centro-derecha, 1975-1977

Varias fueron las causas del fracaso del proyecto político democristiano en la transición democrática española. Sin embargo, entre todas ellas, una resulta especialmente llamativa: la negativa de la Iglesia a dar su apoyo a una formación que se denominara “cristiana”. Por ello, y dado el desinterés historiográfico sobre esta cultura política y el papel que jugó en “el cambio”, analizaremos los motivos de fricción, históricos y programáticos, entre la Jerarquía y los partidos que integraron la Federación Demócrata Cristiana (FDC). Asimismo, comprobaremos si ello benefició, implícitamente, a la Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD), proyecto reformista amparado por el Ejecutivo.

The reasons of the fail of the demochristian political project in the Spanish transition were diverse. Nevertheless, one of them, is especially striking: the denial of the Church to support one group called “Christian”. Due to that, and based on the historiographic disinterest about this political culture and the role which took part in the “change”, we are analyzing the historical and programmatic causes of this friction, between the Hierarchy and the parties which were included in the Federación Demócrata Cristiana (FDC). Also, we will check if that gave advantages to Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD), reformist project supported by the Executive.
