Los escritores ingleses Hilaire Belloc y G. K. Chesterton tuvieron una presencia notable en la configuración ideológica de las derechas españolas de principios del siglo XX. Tras ser descubiertos por los corresponsales españoles presentes en el Londres post-victoriano, Belloc y Chesterton ejercieron una importante influencia durante los años 20 y 30 sobre grupos como el de Acción española. Ramiro de Maeztu, en particular, se vio influido por su crítica a la organización política y social del mundo moderno, por su propuesta de un regreso a la fe católica del medievo, y su reivindicación de un catolicismo intelectual.

English authors Hilaire Belloc and G. K. Chesterton had an important presence in the ideological imaginary of the Spanish right of the early twentieth century. After the Spanish foreign correspondents based in Edwardian London took notice of their works and introduced them to the wider Spanish reading public, Belloc and Chesterton exerted an important influence during the 1920s and 30s on groups such as Acción española. Ramiro de Maeztu, in particular, was influenced by their call for a return to the Catholic order of the Middle Ages, as well as their vindication of Catholicism as an intellectual project.
