    El anime adquirió sus características claves en la década de  los 60, cuando se estableció como una industria. Sin embargo, las cualidades estéticas de los dibujos y la riqueza de sus fabulosas historias comenzaron a apreciarse incluso antes de la aparición del término manga, cuando las imágenes comenzaron a surgir con características que eventualmente formarían la base del lenguaje visual del anime actual: Dibujo estilizado e imagen secuencial. Por esta razón, y para entender el anime tal como lo conocemos hoy, es necesario investigar su historia y orígenes ocultos, más allá de los famosos estudios de animación o animadores consagrados. Este artículo explora las formas de arte japonesas tradicionales, desde los primeros dibujos en forma de caricatura hasta las creaciones de animación que aparecieron a principios del siglo XX.

    Anime acquired its key features in the '60s, when it was established as an industry. However, the aesthetic qualities of the drawings and the richness of their fabulous stories began to be appreciated even before the appearance of the term manga, when images started to emerge with characteristics that would eventually form the basis of the visual language of the current anime: stylized drawing and sequential image. For this reason, and in order to understand anime as we know it today, it is necessary to investigate its hidden history and origins, beyond famous animation studios or consecrated animators. This article explores the traditional Japanese art forms from the first caricature-like drawings to the animation creations that appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century.
