    El artículo se centra en el desarrollo político del Partido Socialista de Chile durante la primera etapa de la dictadura militar chilena (1973-1979). El objetivo es dilucidar la línea política del partido (incluidas sus facciones) posterior al golpe de Estado y con ello develar las principales discusiones y posturas internas. Consideramos que el quiebre del partido (1979) no se debió a una mera disputa de poder entre líderes, sino principalmente a una profunda divergencia ideológica, fomentada por las facciones y definida por el incipiente proceso de renovación. El análisis es fruto de la recopilación y sistematización de una serie de documentos clandestinos e inéditos.

    The article focuses in the political development of the Chilean Socialist Party during the first half of the military dictatorship in Chile (1973-1979). The objective is to analyse the party’s political line —including the factions— after the coup, and therefore to reveal the internal main discussions and stances. The political breakdown in 1979 is considered not to be originated by a mere power dispute among leaders, but mainly to a deep ideological divergence encouraged by factions, defined by the incipient renovation process. This analysis is the result of the collection and systematisation of a series of clandestine and unpublished documents.
