    Tras ser restaurado en el Vaticano II, urge entender cuáles son sus funciones propias. Los autores analizados en este estudio coinciden en que el diaconado se basa de igual manera en los tres pilares de la Liturgia, la Palabra y la Caridad (E. Sander, C. Wessely, S. del Cura, E. Petrolino, A. Ivorra). Tanto B. Elbs como C. Wessely destacan la importancia de trabajar con los pobres del mundo industrializado del siglo XXI. La jerarquía es entendida como triangular, en la que el obispo como cabeza tiene sus colaboradores en función del grado del sacramento que han recibido. El diácono permanente está llamado non ad sacerdotium sed ad ministerium (LG 29) episcopi. Su lugar eclesial y eclesiológico queda claro y, sin embargo, quedan todavía muchas dudas, críticas y actitudes de desconfianza hacia el diaconado. Por ello analizamos algunas publicaciones recientes, así como experiencias concretas de otros países (Alemania, Austria, EEUU).

    After being restored in Vatican II, it is urgent to understand what its own functions are. The authors analyzed in this study agree that the diaconate is similarly based on the three pillars of the Liturgy, the Word and Charity (E. Sander, C. Wessely, S. Del Cura, E. Petrolino, A. Ivorra). Both B. Elbs and Wessely stress the importance of working with the poor in the 21st century industrialized world. The hierarchy is understood as triangular, in which the bishop as head has his collaborators depending on the degree of the sacrament they have received. The permanent deacon is called non ad sacerdotium sed ad ministerium (LG 29) episcopi. Its ecclesial and ecclesiological place remains clear and, nevertheless, there are still many doubts, criticisms and distrustful attitudes towards the diaconate. For this reason we analyze some recent publications, as well as concrete experiences from other countries (Germany, Austria, USA).
