  • Resumen
    • On his return from the Dakar- Djibouti expedition, Michel Leiris gave a scientific presentation of the secret language of the Dogons Some time later, he made an analysis of the concept of possession amongst the Gondar of Ethiopia. Language — the secret — identity and masks — in a sense everything is here — plus that excessive subjectivity which surprises ethnologists. Leiris, who sent his impressions of Africa to his wife Louise, dedicates the entire œuvre « like a long letter to his customary, tender confidante, his pale-eyed companion » without ever realising that it is her name and none other that he writes as he veers obsessively between the names of the Gondar and the Dogans : her name is Louise Godon.
