UU. y la firma por parte del presidente Trump del nuevo tratado de libre comercio entre los Estados norteamericanos, USMCA, que sustituye al TLCAN (NAFTA, por sus siglas en inglés) supone la entrada en vigor del acuerdo, que será además de un potente instrumento para impulsar las economías de los firmantes, un espaldarazo a la política exterior de la actual Administración estadounidense y a su rechazo al multilateralismo. Este documento repasa los elementos novedosos del acuerdo y aborda su significado en términos de política exterior.

The recent approval by the U.S. Congress and the signing by President Trump of the new free trade agreement between the North American states, USMCA, which replaces NAFTA, means the entry into force of the agreement, which will be not only a powerful instrument for boosting the signatories' economies, but also an endorsement of the foreign policy of the current US administration and its rejection of multilateralism. This document reviews the novel elements of the agreement and reflects on its meaning in terms of foreign policy.
