    Justificar la dominancia y tipo de lateralidad en escolares de 3° y 4° año de enseñanza básica, entre 8 y 9 años, que asisten a colegios particulares, subvencionados y municipales.

    Método transversal-comparativo (Hernández et al., 1998). Se utiliza como instrumento el Test de Harris adaptado por Picq & Vayer, para la recolección de los datos de escolares de 3° y 4° año de enseñanza básica de los colegios ubicados en el sector de Playa Ancha, Valparaíso.

    El 57% de la muestra, presenta una Lateralidad Homogénea sin Definir (LSD).

    Un 15% presenta una Lateralidad Homogénea Diestra (LHD), Otro 15% presenta una Lateralidad Mal Afirmada Diestra (LMAD), mientras que el 1% presenta una Lateralidad Mal Afirmada Izquierda (LHI).

    Se concluye que, de los 575 escolares de 3° y 4° año de enseñanza básica de 8 y 9 años en el test de Harris, presentan por lo general una Lateralidad Sin Definir (LSD), seguido de una Lateralidad Homogénea Diestra (LHD). Respecto a la Dominancia Manual en general usan la mano derecha. En la Dominancia Podal en general son Ambidextros y en la Dominancia Visual en general utilizan el ojo derecho.

    To justify the dominance and the type of laterality in students of 3rd and 4th year of elementary school, between the ages of 8 and 9 from private, subsidized and public schools.

    Cross-sectional comparative method (Hernández et al., 1998). The Harris Test instrument adapted by Picq & Vayer is used to collect the data of student of 3rd and 4th year of elementary school of educational institutions located in Playa Ancha, Valparaíso.

    57% of the sample shows Undefined Homogenous Laterality (LSD, by its Spanish acronym). 15% of the sample shows Right-handed Homogenous Laterality (LHD, by its Spanish acronym), other 15% shows Right-handed Badly Settled Laterality (LMAD, by its Spanish acronym), and 1% shows Left-handed Badly Settled Laterality (LMAI, by its Spanish acronym).

    It is concluded that, from 575 students of 3rd and 4th year of elementary school between the ages of 8 and 9 subjected to the Harris Test, generally show an Undefined Laterality (LSD), which is followed by a Right-handed Homogenous Laterality (LHD). Regarding the Hand Dominance, generally they use the right hand. For the Foot Dominance they are generally Ambidextrous, and for the Visual Dominance they generally use the right eye.
