This article briefly traces the history of the military uprising against the Republic in the Spanish protectorate in July 1936. Franco’s forces occupied all the area before the Peninsula; therefore, the military repression of the civilian population began a day earlier in the area than in the rest of Spain. The speed and violence with which the dictatorial regime was introduced in the Protectorate it is exemplified quite well with the case of sanctioned schoolteachers of the National Teacher Corps. We will relate some stories of those affected to empathize with a close reality even today and complete a chapter of our own contemporary history
