    Frédéric Pajak es considerado el inventor del ensayo gráfico. En este artículo se reflexiona sobre el significado de este nuevo género al hilo de obras como La inmensa soledad o Manifiesto incierto. Para situar la posibilidad teórica del ensayo gráfico se hace un recorrido sintético tanto por la teoría más extendida de los géneros literarios como por el debate en torno a la novela gráfica alrededor de cuestiones más amplias, entre ellas, la de si resulta posible pensar a través de imágenes.

    Frédéric Pajak is considered the inventor of the graphic essay. This article reflects on the meaning of this new genre in line with works such as L’immense solitude or Manifeste incertain. To locate the theoretical possibility of graphic essays, a synthetic journey is made both through the more widespread theory of literary genres and through the debate around the graphic novel together some broader issues, including whether it is possible to think through images.
