Resumen de Hacia un «gran Magreb». La UE, la seguridad europea y el declive del concepto MENA

  El mantenimiento de MENA como marco principal para la política y estrategia de la Unión Europea para el norte de África y el Sahel ya no responde a las dinámicas de seguridad de la zona. Estas no solo muestran que este modelo está en declive, sino que prácticamente se diluye por la vía de los hechos. Está siendo sustituido por un complejo regional de seguridad nuevo, el gran Magreb, que además incluye una visión en profundidad más «africana». La UE debería de revisar su enfoque de seguridad hacia esta área rápida y de forma innovadora antes de que sea irrelevante en la zona en el nuevo escenario estratégico.

  The maintenance of MENA as the main framework for the European Union's policy and strategy for North Africa and the Sahel no longer responds to the security dynamics of the area. These not only show that this model is in decline, but that it is practically being diluted by the facts. It is being replaced by a new regional security complex, the Greater Maghreb, which also includes a more African' in-depth vision. The EU should review its security approach to this area quickly and innovatively before it becomes irrelevant to the area in the new strategic scenario.
