    Desde muy antiguo, hubo una corriente antijudía en el cristianismo. Los judíos fueron rechazados, hasta llegar a la intolerancia y a su eliminación, con matanzas indiscriminadas e irracionales y por último a su expulsión en diversos países europeos. La motivación era tanto religiosa como social. Ciñéndonos a España y a la época de la Reconquista, los judíos primero y los mudéjares posteriormente, fueron dos comunidades minoritarias que habitaron junto a los cristianos en las poblaciones que iban siendo conquistadas por estos. lo cual no quiere decir que la convivencia o coexistencia fuera siempre bien avenida y pacífica. Por el contrario, aunque hubo períodos más o menos largos, que más bien podemos considerarlos de tolerancia (pues nunca hubo comprensión ni verdadero entendimiento por parte del pueblo cristiano), se produjeron ciclos de persecución, represalias, saqueos y matanzas que causaron puntos de inflexión en las aljamas y morerías. Estas hostilidades dieron lugar a muchas cristianizaciones forzadas que trajeron un nuevo problema: el de los conversos. Como ejemplos exponemos en este artículo lo ocurrido en Toledo, Maqueda y Torrijos.

    From very old, there was an anti-Jewish current in Christianity. The Jews were rejected, until they reached intolerance and their elimination, with indiscriminate and irrational killings and finally their expulsion in various European countries. The motivation was both religious and social. Sticking to Spain and to the time of the Reconquest, the Jews first and the Mudejars later, were two minority communities that lived next to the Christians in the populations that were being conquered by them. which does not mean that the coexistence or coexistence was always well avenue and peaceful. On the contrary, although there were more or less long periods, which could be considered tolerance (because there was never understanding or true understanding on the part of the Christian people), there were cycles of persecution, reprisals, looting and killing that caused turning points in the aljamas and morerías. These hostilities gave rise to many forced Christianizations that brought a new problem: that of the converts. As examples we expose in this article what happened in Toledo, Maqueda and Torrijos.
