  • With regard to the current international air transport crisis caused by the Covid-19 outbreak, which seems worse and more widespread than the one caused by the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the US, the author chronicles the phases that marked the development of the aviation market in the last decades. After specifying that both traditional and low-cost airlines operate scheduled air services and there are no legal differences between them, the author points out that these models have infiuenced each other so much that today it no longer makes sense to distinguish traditional companies from low-cost airlines. In conclusion, the author refiects about whether and how this new air transport model will be able to cope with the aftermath of the coronavirus crisis.
