    Muchas han sido las especulaciones, tanto por parte de estudiosos como de aficionados, sobre las causas de la orientación (supuestamente errónea) de la alquibla de la mezquita de Córdoba, en la mayoría de los casos sin tener en cuenta los textos árabes medievales que estudian la materia ni las excavaciones sobre el trazado de la Qurtuba romana que han tenido lugar estos últimos años. En el artículo David King, maestro en métodos y cálculos de orientación de la alquibla en las diversas zonas del mundo islámico, se basa en la ciencia astronómica para desvelar el motivo por el que nunca se cambió la orientación de la mezquita-aljama de Córdoba, además de hacer un estudio minucioso de las fuentes existentes.

    There has been a great deal of speculation by both scholars and amateurs about the causes of the (allegedly mistaken) orientation of the qibla in the Mosque of Cordoba, in most instances failing to bear in mind the medieval Arab texts which study this subject and the excavations over the layout of Roman Qurtuba which have taken place in recent years. In this article by David King, a master of methods and calculations for the orientation of the qibla in different regions of the Islamic world, the author uses astronomic science to reveal the reasons why the orientation of the Aljama Mosque of Cordoba was never changed, as well as performing a very careful study of the existing sources.
