Resumen de Entre ojos culpables y miradas impunes: la ambivalencia moral del artista en Medusa de Ricardo Menéndez Salmón

El objetivo de este artículo es arrojar luz sobre Medusa (2012), una novela del escritor español Ricardo Menéndez Salmón que examina el tema de la representación del horror. Focalizando nuestra atención en la ambigüedad moral del artista, es esencial profundizar en la ambivalencia entre los ojos culpables y las miradas impunes. Para este propósito, este estudio se propone analizar los diferentes materiales icónicos (fotografías, cuadros y películas), que la novela integra en su estilo narrativo, ofreciendo una nueva perspectiva acerca del tratamiento del horror en la literatura hispánica contemporánea.

The aim of this article is to shed light into Medusa (2012), a novel by the Spanish writer Ricardo Menendez Salmón which examines the horror’s representation theme. Focusing on the artist’s moral ambiguity, it is essential to delve into the ambivalence between guilty eyes and unpunished gazes. To this purpose, this study proposes to analyze the different iconic materials (photographs, paintings and films) which the novel integrates on its own narrative style, offering a new perspective about the narrative treatement of horror in to the contemporary spanish literature.
