Resumen de Die Leipziger Weltchronik – die älteste christliche Weltchronik?

Alexander Weiss

  • This paper argues that the new Leipzig world chronicle (see above Colomo et al.), dated to the first half of the second century AD, might very well be the earliest known Christian world chronicle. The genre of world chronicle is known to be a specific Christian literary genre. The text covers the same broad geographical range that we know only from Christian world chronicles. The dating of the papyrus fits in with the emerging chronographic interest of Christian apologists. And we know of Christian chronographers before Iulius Africanus, who has, perhaps wrongly, been termed the ‘father of Christian chronography’.
