  En este artículo nos proponemos recorrer las traducciones de la obra de la escritora francesa George Sand al castellano entre 1836 y 1975. Nos centraremos en las dificultades que encontraron las editoriales que se interesaron por esta autora y analizaremos la censura administrativa y la censura moral de la que fue objeto. El análisis se dividirá en tres períodos: 1836-1863 (desde la primera traducción al español hasta la inclusión de la autora en el Index Librorum Prohibitorum), 1863-1938 (desde la inclusión en el Índice hasta la Ley de Prensa en plena Guerra Civil) y 1938-1975 (desde la aprobación de la Ley de Prensa del 38 hasta la muerte del dictador).

  The aim of this paper is to survey the Spanish translations of the works of the French authorGeorge Sand published between 1836 and 1975. The article will focus on the difficultiesfaced by publishers who expressed an interest in this author, as well as the administrative andmoral censorship to which her translated works were subjected. The analysis will be dividedinto three time periods: 1836-1863 (from the first Spanish translation until the inclusion ofthe author in the Index Librorum Prohibitorum), 1863-1938 (from the inclusion of Sand in the Index to the Spanish Civil War) and 1938-1975 (from the Spanish Civil War to the deathof the dictator).
