Resumen de A morte contemporânea: a solidão do abandono em «O retorno» de Roberto Bolaño

Imaginemo-nos à entrada de Tebas, em lugar de Édipo, diante da esfinge. Então, ao invés do conhecido enigma, ela nos fita os olhos friamente e lança a pergunta voraz: «O que é a vida?». De certo, em uma breve reflexão, concluiremos que até os homens mais sábios conhecidos pela humanidade, provavelmente, seriam engolidos. Ao lado do questionamento primeiro, não menos incômodo e faminto, encontra-se outro: «Existe vida após a morte?». Encontrar resoluções para essas perguntas e para outras que delas reverberam talvez seja a tarefa mais instigante a que nós, seres dotados de consciência, temos nos dedicado. O conto neofantástico O retorno, do escritor chileno Roberto Bolaño, apresenta-nos, por meio de um espectro-narrador, as vivências de um ser que experimentou, como diz Agamben (2012), «o escuro de seu tempo». O objetivo precípuo do presente artigo é submeter a narrativa mencionada a um trabalho interpretativo acerca de uma porção deste «escuro» que se traduz na condição de abandono que permeia a vida das personagens e no estado de solidão-morte em que se encontram, abrindo vias para um pensar sobre o estar-no-mundo do homem contemporâneo.

Let us imagine ourselves, instead of Oedipus, at the entrance to Thebes, before the Sphinx. So, instead of the well-known riddle, she stares at us coldly and asks the voracious question: «What is life?». Indeed, in a brief reflection, we will conclude that even the wisest men known to mankind would probably be swallowed up. Next to the first question, no less uncomfortable and hungry, there is another: «Is there life after death?». Finding resolutions to these questions and to others that reverberate from them is perhaps the most exciting task to which we, beings with consciousness, have dedicated ourselves. The neo-fantastic tale O retorno, by the Chilean writer Roberto Bolaño, presents us, through a spectrum-narrator, the experiences of a being who experienced, as Agamben (2012) says, «the dark of his time». The main objective of this article is to submit the mentioned narrative to an interpretative work about a portion of this «dark» that translates into the condition of abandonment that permeates the lives of the characters, and the state of loneliness-death in which they find themselves, thus opening ways for thinking about the being-in-the-world of contemporary man.
