Resumen de Criterios de expansividad en materiales arcillosos neógenos del Campo de Calatrava (Ciudad Real)

F.J. Torrijo, C. Melguizo, J.M. Bescós, J. Bueso

  • Soil swelling Is a term generally applied to the ability of a soil to undergo large changes in volume due to variations in the moisture content. Several commonly used swelling potential indexes, namely Atterberg limits and moisture content, were used to estimate the swelling potential of expansive clays of Neogene (Campo de Calatrava, Ciudad Real). Correlation between the plastic index (moisture content/plastic limit) and the plastic limit was obtained and used to determine the swelling pressure. The result is a set of reliable soil-swelling indexes for different levels of risk.
