The analysis and interpretation of several seismic reflection sections together with surface and borehole data allow us to characterize the subsurface geometry of the Mesozoic-Tertiary cover at the Belchite area (Ebro Basin). Jurassic and Paleogene units crop out at the southern part of the studied area in the Belchite anticline. North of this anticline, there are small outcrops of Upper Jurassic rocks surrounded by subhorizontal Neogene units. Below the Neogene units, up to five NW-SE trending anticlines can be inferred by means of interpreted seismic sections. These anticlines are located over deep structures involving the Hercynian basement. The geometry of the basement top is slightly folded and shows tilting to the North at the northernmost part (to the depocenter of the Ebro Basin) and to the South near the folds and thrusts of the Iberian Chain. The analysis of seismic sequences also shows several unconformities corresponding to the boundaries of pre-, syn- and post-folding sedimentary units.
