Míguel Ángel Rodríguez Pascua, Víctor Hugo Garduño Monroy, Isabel Israde Alcántara

  • The Acambay Basin is a Pleistocene paleolake located in the Trans - Mexican Volcanic Belt and inside of the Morelia - Acambay fault system. The sedimentary infill is upper to 90 m and the main beds are diatomaceous lacustrine sediments capped and some times interlayered with volcaniclastic ashy and epiclastic deposits. Diatom analysis of the outcrops evidence long lived deep lake appears 5 paleoseismic events related to slumps and seismites with liquefactions processes, this phenomena implies that the magnitudes are bigger than 5. It is the first time that had been discovered seismites in lake sediments in the Mexican Volcanic Arc.
