Resumen de Geometría y cinemática de la cizalla extensional de Santa Elena-Puente Génave (Zona Centroibérica, Sierra Morena Oriental)

Luis Miguel Martín Parra, Jerónimo Matas, David Jesús Martínez Poyatos, Francisco González Lodeiro

  • We describe the existence of a late variscan extensional shear zone in the southeastern Central Iberian Zone. The shear zone is E-W oriented, exceeds 100 km along strike, and shows a top-to-thesouth sense o f movement. The location of the shearing is biologically controlled by a narrow band of 50-150 m o f Silurian ampelites in which deformation concentrates. The ampelites and underlying rocks, including a igneous body, show the characteristics of ductile to brittle simple shear deformation. The shear zone creates a maximum cartographic gap that makes superpose Lower Carboniferous rocks directly onto Silurian ampelites, and that ones onto Middle Ordovician rocks. The shear » zone and other structures present in the area (two perpendicular dike networks and late open folds parallel to the shear zone) are interpreted as formed during the same extensional episode.
