Apresenta-se neste texto o Conselho Nacional das Mulheres Portuguesas, criado em 1914, como índice de contemporaneidade por consagrar de forma sistemática, talvez pela primeira vez em Portugal, os direitos das mulheres comodireitos humanos. Recorrendo ao exemplo paradigmático da Déclaration des Droits de la Femme et de la Citoyennede Olympe de Gouges ao apresentar a mulher, tal como o homem, como sujeito de direitos, procura-se salientar como o enunciado teórico por ela apresentado se foi concretizando em direitos objectivos das mulheres com incidências culturais, sociais, políticas, económicas, etc. , tornados efectivos na vida do dia a dia. Sendo assim, elas contribuíram, igualmente, para o despontar e consolidar da contemporaneidade imprescindível ao seu carácter universal

This text seeks to present The National Council of Portuguese Women, created in 1914, as rate of contemporaneity, as it systematically established women’s rights as human rights probably for the first time in Portugal. Invoking the prime example of Olympe de Gouges, Declaration of the Rights of the Woman and Citizen,by presenting the woman as subject of rights, in the same way as the man, it is intended to point out the way in which the theory it puts forward became effective in everyday life through objective rights with cultural, social, political and economic impact. Therefore, they also contributed to the emergence and strengthening of contemporaneity, crucial in their universal dimension.
