    Los historiadores aumentan la vida: amplían, enriquecen y flexibilizan el horizonte intelectual de quienes nos dedicamos a la ética. La historia honestamente investigada y bien narrada ayuda a liberarse de las miopías y los sectarismos del presente. A los jesuitas, conocer la propia historia, saber de dónde venimos, qué hicimos, cómo actuamos y qué nos pasó en otros tiempos y otras circunstancias, da perfiles, hondura y realismo a la propia identidad. Esa fue la historia que cultivó Manuel Revuelta; de ello quiere dar aquí testimonio agradecido un compañero de claustro, de generación y compañero jesuita.

    Historians increase life: they expand, enrich and make the intellectual horizon of those of us who are dedicated to ehtics more flexible. History, when investigated and well narrated, helps to free oneself from some myopic and sectarian visions of the present. To the Jesuits, to know one’s own history, to know where we come from, what we did, how we acted and what happened to us in other times and other circumstances, gives profile, depth and realism to one’s identity. That was the story that Manuel Revuelta cultivated. As a member of the same Faculty, as companion of the same generation, and as fellow Jesuit, the author wishes to bear grateful witness of this here.
