Resumen de La Leyenda Negra en los Países Bajos e Inglaterra en el siglo XVI: un estudio comparativo de sus orígenes y principales tópicos

Los Países Bajos e Inglaterra fueron los dos territorios extranjeros que más contribuyeron durante el siglo XVI a difundir una serie de tópicos negativos sobre la monarquía de España. Ambos se habían visto afectados por la Reforma protestante y, en la segunda mitad del siglo, mantuvieron una relación hostil con la potencia hegemónica global. Con este trabajo se pretenden analizar las semejanzas y diferencias entre los discursos antiespañoles de ambos territorios, con el objetivo de demostrar que la Leyenda Negra fue el resultado de una planificada combinación de tópicos en la que el mutuo intercambio de ideas anglo-flamenco fue fundamental.

The Low Countries and England were the two foreign territories most active in spreading a series of negative topics against the Spanish Monarchy during the sixteenth century. Both of them had felt the impact of Protestant Reformation and were on hostile terms with the global power. This work intends to analyse the similarities and differences amongst both territories anti-Spanish discourses. The goal is to prove that the Black Legend was the result of a planned combination of topics in which the exchange of ideas between Dutch and English was essential.
