    In a backdrop of usurpations lived in the Roman World in the III and IV centuries, there was the constant need to legitimize the power of the ruler’s imperium romanorum as opposed to illegitimate. Driven by this mission, many members of the aristocracy dedicated to the grounds of the imperial image. One of those involved in this work was the historian Sextus Aurelius Victor, who devoted his pen to write of the Liber de Caesaribus, dedicated to then imperator Constantius II. When organizing your paradigm of tyranny and highlight the upright governments, Aurelius Victor clarified the aristocracy and the rulers roads that should be avoided or covered, from the point of view of an aristocratic guardian of roman tradition

    Diante do cenário de usurpações vivido no Mundo Romano nos séculos III e IV d.C., nota-se a constante necessidade de legitimar o poder do governante do imperium romanorum em contraposição ao ilegítimo. Movido por essa missão, muitos membros da aristocracia dedicaram seus esforços na fundamentação da imagem imperial. Um dos envolvidos nessa empreitada foi o historiador Sexto Aurélio Victor, o qual destinou sua pena a tarefa de escrever o Liber de Caesaribus, dedicado ao então imperator Constâncio II. Ao organizar seu paradigma de tirania e ressaltar os retos governos, Aurélio Victor esclarecia à aristocracia e aos governantes os caminhos que deveriam ser evitados ou percorridos, sob o ponto de vista de um aristocrático guardião das tradições romanas
