    Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, el público de las salas cinematográficas de Santa Cruz de Tenerife pudo contemplar algunas de las películas históricas más interesantes de la época del cine mudo. Así, el Parque Recreativo y el Salón Novedades, los dos locales de proyección existentes en aquellos momentos, tuvieron en este tipo de producciones un lleno asegurado entre unos espectadores fascinados por las recreaciones del mundo antiguo.

    Estas joyas de la cinematografía, realizadas en Italia, constituyeron grandes éxitos de taquilla y la prensa insular, seducida por la magia y la suntuosidad de sus imágenes, informó con entusiasmo de sus estrenos.

    During the First World War, the audience of the cinemas of Santa Cruz de Tenerife could see some of the most interesting historic movies of the Silent film. In this way the Parque Recreativo and the Salón Novedades, the two showrooms that existed in those moments, had in this kind of productions a secured full house among the members of the audience fascinated by the recreations of the ancient world. These jewels of the cinematography, filmed in Italy, represented big box-office successes and the insular press, seduced by the magic and the sumptuousness of their images, informed enthusiastically of their premieres.
