Los investigadores e investigadoras dedicados al oficio de la historia debaten actualmente acerca de las ventajas y retos de la era digital y la Internet. La disciplina histórica, como el resto de los ámbitos del conocimiento humano, está profundamente influenciada por la conexión a la Web. Este invento tecnológico (1989-1990), asociado al desarrollo de los medios digitales e informáticos, revoluciona la manera de cómo se comprende el presente, se estudia y recuerda el pasado. Este asunto es interesante, pues mucha de la bibliografía apunta a los retos y problemas epistemológicos y heurísticos que enfrenta la disciplina histórica ante lo que se ha dado en llamar Historia Digital. Esta categoría define el quehacer histórico a través del uso de la tecnología y la Internet. Aunque en pocas palabras el principio tecnológico es la base su definición, la Historia Digital parece trascender del ámbito de la técnica y repercute a la erudición, pues para algunos no es más que un asunto de fuentes y maneras de leer que no inciden en lo ontológico, pero para otros representa un asunto de gran impacto en la disciplina.

This technological invention (1989-1990), which is associated with the development of digital and computer media, has changed the way people understand the present and how they study and remember the past. This is an interesting issue due to most of the bibliography points to the epistemological and heuristic challenges and problems facing historical discipline in the face of what is called as Digital History. This category defines the study of History through the use of technology and the Internet. Although the technologic principle is its definition, Digital History seems to transcend the field of technology and affects erudition; for some people, it is about a matter of sources and ways of reading that do not affect the ontological, but for others it represents a matter of great impact on thediscipline
