    En este artículo se ofrece una interpretación de los relieves vegetales del Ara Pacis Augustae basada en la Eneida. Los motivos que aparecen en el registro inferior de este monumento constituyen una metáfora de este poema épico. Además, los relieves inferiores y superiores están conectados e inspirados en un pasaje concreto de la Eneida: la llegada de Eneas al Tíber (Aen. 7.29-34) y a la “Tierra prometida”, Tellus (Aen. 7.120). En ambos casos se transmite el mismo mensaje con los mismos motivos: la feracidad de Roma es signo de predestinación para gobernar el mundo

    This paper offers an interpretation of the floral friezes of the Ara Pacis Augustae based on the Aeneid. The motifs that appear in the lower register of this temple constitute a metaphor of this epic poem. In addition, the lower and upper friezes are connected and inspired by a specific passage of the Aeneid: the arrival of Aeneas to the Tiber (Aen. 7.29-34) and to the “promised Land” Tellus (Aen.1.720). In both cases the same message is transmitted with the same motives: the abundance of Rome is a sign of predestination to rule the world.
