El reinado de los Reyes Católicos supuso la confirmación de un cambio cultural iniciado a mediados del siglo XVque facilitaría el asentamiento de un nuevo modelo de monarquía centralizada y apoyada en una clase dirigente altamente preparada. Isabel y Fernando se sirvieron de sus consejeros –elegidos entre los principales protagonistas de este mundo cultural–para tratar de homogeneizar a sus súbditos y para asentar internacionalmente una imagen mesiánica en la que esta nueva monarquía estaba destinada a guiar a la cristiandad.

The Kingdom of the Catholics Kings meant the confirmation of a cultural change that was starting in the 15th century. It allowed the creation and stabilization of a new model of centralized monarchy, thanks to the presence of a highly educated establishment. Isabel and Fernando were using their counsellors -selected from the leading figures of this cultural world-to try to homogenize their subjects and to project a messianic image of a Kingdom that claimed to lead Christianity.
