Resumen de Soberanía nacional, pueblos indígenas y trauma civilizatorio en Colombia y Ecuador

Este texto revisa los primeros documentos legales de la independencia en la Gran Colombia con el fin de ubicar el entendimiento vigente en aquella época respeto a la noción de pueblo y soberanía, especialmente su construcción pactista que nos quedó como legado colonial. Con la mente de los patriotas fija en el legado político europeo, la superioridad de unos sobre los otros fue naturalizada y a partir ello no hubo necesidad de negociar gobernabilidad con los indios ni mucho menos justificarles el dominio sobre sus territorios. Disuelta la primera República colombiana, Nueva Granada y Ecuador consolidaron este constructo político.

This paper reviews the first legal documents on the independence of the Great Colombia in order to explain the current understanding of that time in relation to the notion of people and sovereigny, especially their construction based on pacts which have remained as a colonial legacy to these days.
With the patriots’ mind fixed in the European political legacy, the superiority of one over the other was naturalized. And from this point there was no need for further governability negotiations with the Indians, much less for any justification for the dominance on their land. After the dissolution of the first Colombian republic, Nueva Granada and Ecuador consolidated this political construct.
