Few studies are known about the diet of Neotropical birds. The king vulture (Sarcoramphus papa) is known to consume carrion, live prey, and palm fruit (Mauritia fiexuosa and Attalea maripa), but there are no reports of this species eating other fruits. The green ibis (Mesembrinibis cayennensis) eats many invertebrates, fruits and vegetables, but there are no reports that indicate Cedrela odorata forms part of its diet. Here we report S. papa consuming Cecropia insignis fruit, which could be related to lack of carrion and the facility for obtaining this fruit, thus partially compensating it food requirements; and M. cayennensis eating C. odorata fruit, which might be related to its habitat preferences and its mobility that makes it possible for it to move throughout the landscape.
