Durante la guerra de España los italianos constituyeron uno de los mayores contingentes de voluntarios internacionalistas. Muchos fueron los artículos de prensa y algunos los poemas que se publicaron en España y, sin embargo, las memorias, los textos en movimiento aparecieron más tarde: cuando fue posible y se sintió necesario publicarlos en Italia. En ellos la memoria de España y la necesidad de seguir interviniendo en una lucha no acabada se mantienen intactas. Pero, de igual manera, se siente distinta la historia, distinta la memoria, cuando se cuenta la vivencia de la lucha antifascista posterior a la que se incorporaron. La lucha en España pasará a ser casi sin solución de continuidad y dentro de la acción cotidiana del partisano, modelo convergente o de absoluta diferencia. Así lo contarán, por ejemplo, Giovanni Pesce y otros, pero todos con España como algo pendiente y con sus textos como escritura en acción.

During the Spanish War the ltalians constituted one of the biggest contingents of Internation al Volunteers. There were many press articles and some poems that were published in Spain, however, the memoirs, the texts in movement appeared lacer on: when it was possible and they felt it necessary to publish them in Italy. The memory of Spain and the necessiry to continue taking part in an unfinished fight is maintained in them. But, in the same way, history and memories are felt differently, when taking into account their subsequent experience of the posterior antifascist struggle they took part years lacer. The fight in Spain would become a reference for the partisan; either a model of convergence or of absolute difference. This is what Giovanni Pesce and others will insist on: Spain is considered an unresolved cause, a discourse pattern in continuous action.
