    El movimiento de trabajadores culturales de Estados Unidos denominado "The Theater Arts Committee", conocido por el acrónimo "TAC", no suele tenerse en cuenta hoy en día al tratar de recuperar la memoria histórica de la guerra española. El TAC canalizó el poder de actores, cantantes y bailarines populares en Norteamérica, para motivar al país a defender España, a organizarse contra el fascismo, a exigir seguridad colectiva y proteger a los refugiados antifascistas. Este artículo tratará sobre el primer evento teatral que inspiró la creación del TAC, una obra teatral producida en septiembre de 1936 y titulada "Who Fights this Battle?" Siendo ya una joven y experta actriz, Adelaida Bean había representado junto a George M. Cohan "Ah! Wilderness" de O'Neill. Bean sacó inspiración de un vibrante movimiento teatral de trabajadores de Nueva York y con sus compañeros, en "Who Fights this Battle?", haciendo uso de una música de estilo propio y apoyándose en un amplio grupo de dramaturgos, actores y compositores, consiguió atraer a un público mucho más amplio que el simpatizant4e de la causa socialista. Influenciados por el éxito de "Who Fights this Battle?", estos profesionales notables, bajo la influencia de Bean, pasaron a formar el "Theater Arts Committee & Cabaret TAC", de gran peso en la política americana hasta 1940.

    Overlooked in today's effort to recover the historical memory of the Spanish Civil War is the movement of U.S. cultural workers called the "Theater Arts Committee", known by its acronym "TAC". TAC organized the star power of North America's favourite actors, singers and dancers to motivate the country to defend Spain, to organize against fascism, demand collective security and shield ant-fascism refugees. This papers will deal with the threshold theatrical event that inspired the creation of TAC, wich was the production of a play called "Who fights this Battle?" in September, 1936. Already an accomplished young actor, Adelaide Bean had been cast by O'Neill in "Ah! Wilderness" alongside George M. Cohan. Bean drew inspiration from a vibrant N.Y. workers theater movement. Bean and her colleaguesreached beyond a labor and socialist-oriented audience with "Who fights this Battle?" to attract a broader public, used music in their style and drew from a huge community of playwrights, actors, directors and composers. Fresh from the influence of "Who fights this Battle?"these notables under Bean's influence went on to form th "Theater Arts Committee and Cabaret TAC" wich influenced American politics until 1940.
