Control de contenidos en el Internet: Una realidad que puede ser vista como una amenaza

    Siendo el Internet un medio de comunicación, el contenido que se trasmite a través suyo es su fin mismo. El Internet, como medio que hace posible la difusión de contenido, se ha convertido en un nuevo foro, por cierto ideal, dado que tiene un alcance global inimaginable, para el ejercicio de la libertad de expresión. Es un foro que no tiene límites de fronteras ni de audiencia. Y esto mismo es lo que ha generado que surja el control de contenido. El control de contenido se ha visto presente con respecto a temas controversiales tales como la pornografía, la cual se considera nociva para los menores. De tal forma, surge el debate acerca de cómo efectuar ese control de contenidos sin que se vulnere el derecho a la libertad de expresión. Así mismo, la gran preocupación es sí este es el principio del fin del Internet.

    The fact that the Internet is a communication medium means that the content transmitted through it is its objective. The Internet as a medium that makes possible the diffusion of content has become a new forum, one which seems to be ideal due to the fact that it has an unimaginable global reach, for the exercise of freedom of speech. This forum is not limited territorially or with regard to its audience. And this is why the control over content arose.

    This content control in the Internet has been present with respect to controversial subjects such as pornography, which has been considered harmful for minors. In this sense, a debate has come forth in an attempt to enforce control over content without breaching freedom of speech. Along with the debate a great concern has come forth with regard to the possibility that the content control can be the beginning of the end of the Internet, as we know it.
