    El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el modo en que los Acuerdos de Viernes Santo, firmados en 1998 y que culminaban el proceso de paz que ponía fin a la violencia sufrida en la región durante tres décadas, han afectado a la configuración del sistema de partidos norirlandés. Trataremos de validar la hipótesis de que los acuerdos han favorecido a aquellos partidos situados en los extremos. Sin embargo, también trataremos de demostrar cómo dicho auge de los partidos situados en el extremo ha venido acompañado de una moderación de sus postulados. Para ello, analizaremos el impacto del modelo institucional en tal proceso. Llevaremos a cabo este análisis desde la perspectiva teórica del consociacionalismo.

    The aim of this work is to analyze the way in which the Good Friday Agreement, signed in 1998 and that consolidated the Peace Process which ended the period of violence suffered by the region during its last three decades, has affected the Northern Irish party system. We will try to confirm our hypothesis, which claims that the Agreements have favored those parties whose discourse was more extremist. Nevertheless, we will also try to prove that the rising of those parties was accompanied by a moderation of its discourse. To reach this aim we will analyze the impact of the institutional framework on that process. This analysis will be done under the theoretical perspective of consotionalism.
