En este artículo se presentan los estudios iniciales sobre heráldica civil en la arquitectura de la ciudad de burgos, comenzando por la ubicación de los mismos dentro del plano urbano, dividiéndolos en cuatro zonas principales, con algún ejemplar disperso. EN un segundo apartado se desarrolla de manera cronológica una sucinta bibliografía sobre el tema, que nos permite apreciar la disparidad de conocimientos que los investigadores nos ofrecen sobre este campo así como los vacíos cronológicos apreciables entre los mismos. El tercer apartado está dedicado a las dificultades de identificación y atribución a las que se enfrenta el investigador en este campo y a los diferentes ámbitos a los que acudir para intentar solventarlas.

This article presents the initial studies on civil heraldry in the architecture of the city ofBurgos, starting with the location of them within the urban plan, dividing them into four main areas, with some scattered copies. In a second section a brief bibliography on the subject is developed chronologically, which allows us to appreciate the disparity o f knowledge that researchers offer us in this field as well as the appreciable chronological gaps between them. The third section is devoted to the difficulties of identification and attribution faced by the researcher m this field and the different areas to go to try to solve them.
