    El examen reproductivo del semental engloba una serie de pruebas diagnósticas como son la ecografía del aparato reproductor y la evaluación de la calidad seminal. La ecografía modo B es la más empleada y permite estimar la producción espermática del semental, así como el diagnóstico de algunas alteraciones reproductivas. No obstante, esta técnica tiene sus limitaciones. La ecografía Doppler permite un estudio cualitativo y cuantitativo de la vascularización testicular, permitiendo diferenciar entre sementales fértiles y subfértiles.

    The breeding soundness evaluation in stallions T encompasses a series of diagnostic tests such as ultrasound of the reproductive tract and evaluation of semen quality. B mode ultrasound is the most widely used technique and it allows an estimation of sperm production in the stallion to be made, as well as for diagnosis of some reproductive abnormalities. However, this technique has its limitations. Doppler ultrasound permits a qualitative and quantitative study of testicular vascularization, allowing for differentiation between fertile and sub-fertile stallions. More recently new diagnostic imaging techniques are being used in the equine reproduction field such as 3D ultrasound, elastography and Ecotext®. Implementation of these diagnostic techniques will improve thedefinitive diagnosis of some reproductive pathologies, without the need for the use of more invasive techniques on the animal.
