  Esta investigación tiene la finalidad de describir y analizar las opiniones que tiene el personal docente peruano sobre las razones y limitaciones que imposibilitarían una dedicación continua para con la investigación científica; y de paso, definir si están en la obligación de ejecutar este trabajo. La investigación cualitativa es de tipo fenomenológica empírica, donde se describe y analiza las opiniones de la muestra. Se utiliza la entrevista semiestructurada y un grupo de enfoque a docentes de la Unidad de Gestión Educativa – UGEL 06, de Lima-Perú. Asimismo, para conocer la percepción del futuro grupo docente, se organizan entrevistas a estudiantes de la carrera de educación, pertenecientes al noveno ciclo de la Facultad de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades de una universidad pública. El estudio revela que el personal docente tiene un desinterés y una desmotivación para la investigación científica debido a tres factores: el tiempo, el económico y el académico. Además, se constata que están obligados, moralmente, para efectuar dicha labor.

  This study describes and analyzes the opinion of Peruvian teachers regarding reasons and/or constraints that prevent them from conducting scientific research and also defines if teachers are actually obligated to perform this type of activity. The methodology is based on qualitative research from empirical phenomenological data for which opinions of the sample group are described and analyzed. Semi-structured interviews and a focus group with teachers from the Educational Management Unit - UGEL 06 in  Lima-Peru were also held. In order to capture the perception of future teachers, interviews were conducted with college Education majors in their Ninth Cycle at the Social Sciences and Humanities Department from a public university. Results show that teachers are not interested or motivated to conduct    scientific research. The reasons are three-fold: time or lack thereof, financial and academic constraints. It also verified the extent to which teachers are  obligated both professionally and morally to conduct scientific research.
