Análisis de la influencia de la Alianza para el Progreso en el Ecuador en los años sesenta, recurriendo a la documentación y bibliografía del período. Explica las iniciativas de modernización precedentes, el asistencialismo inicial de ALPRO, la promoción de la reformaagraria, la industrialización sustitutiva y la creación de las instituciones de salud, vivienda y cooperativismo. Argumenta la fugacidad del legado de ALPRO en un país afectado por recurrentes crisis políticas reacias al cambio

Analysis of the influence of the Alliance for Progress in Ecuador in the 1960s, using the documentation and bibliography of the period. It explains the preceding modernization initiatives, the initial assistance provided by ALPRO, the promotion of agrarian reform, the substitution industrialization and the creation of health, housing and cooperative institutions. It argues the transience of the legacy of ALPRO in a country affected by recurrent political crises resistant to change
