    Si bien actualmente en América Latina se privilegia la cooperación y el consenso para enfrentar las nuevas amenazas a la seguridad, a largo plazo aún resta implementar medidas comunes efectivas. En este sentido, el objetivo de este documento es entregar una visión general de los desafíos en seguridad y defensa que enfrentan las instancias de integración en Latinoamérica.

    Even though nowadays in Latin America the cooperation and the consensus is favoured to face the new threats to the safety, in the long term still remains to implement common effective measures. In this regard, the purpose of this article is to provide an overview of the challenges in the field of security and defence that are faced by regional integration organisms in Latin America
