The permian basalts of the Anayet area (Central Pyrenees, Huesca) show an evolved composition with a subalkaline to alkaline affinity, supported by their high Ti and P contents and their mineral assemblage (Ti-augite). Geochemical data suggest an enriched mantle source (HIMU) for the origin of this magmatism and the high contents of Ba, Th and U can be explained by interaction of the crust with the magma. The emplacement of these basalts within Upper Pemian red beds is related to the onset of a extensional regime during Permian times.
