    La actividad arqueológica desarrollada en el cerro del Castillo de Aracena desde una óptica interdisciplinar ha generado información que empleamos para analizar y caracterizar al poblamiento andalusí de este lugar. Es una aportación a través del registro material que contribuye al conocimiento histórico sobre el periodo islámico en el Suroeste peninsular.

    El registro arqueológico de la secuencia estratigráfica, la arquitectura doméstica y la cultura material, junto a la información de los textos árabes, nos indican la existencia de un núcleo poblacional de carácter urbano desde el s. X al XIII y se emplea como argumento para analizar la controvertida identificación del topónimo Qaṭrašāna.

    The archaeological intervention undertaken on the hill of the Castle of Aracena, from an interdisciplinary point of view, has generated information that we use to analyze and characterize the Islamic settlement of this place. It is a contribution through the material record to the historical knowledge about the Islamic period in the Southwest peninsular.

    The archaeological evidence of the stratigraphic sequence, the domestic architecture and the material culture, together with the information of the Arabic texts, indicate the existence of a population nucleus of an urban character from the 10th to the 13th centuries and are used as an argument to analyze the controversial identification of the toponym Qaṭrašāna toponym.
