    La investigación tiene la intención de interpretar la percepción que tienen los habitantes de la ciudad de Valencia acerca de su condición de ciudadanos y el ejercicio de su ciudadanía. Con una perspectiva cualitativa de carácter fenomenológico - interpretativo, utilizando el método etnográfico y la técnica de entrevistas semiestructuradas. La información fue obtenida de 62 habitantes de Valencia, quienes respondieron un cuestionario de 20 preguntas del tema ciudadanía, de las cuales se tomaron 6 para este avance. Las entrevistas fueron realizadas por los estudiantes del primer semestre del Ciclo Básico de la FaCES, de la asignatura Métodos de Investigación I, en el semestre 2- 2018. Según las respuestas dadas por los informantes a las preguntas formuladas, se tienen algunas nociones de los términos ciudadano y ciudadanía, sus deberes y obligaciones, desconocen casi por completo la historia, símbolos de la ciudad, manifiestan poca participación en actividades políticas y comunitarias, el valor que más dicen practicar es la solidaridad.

    The research intends to interpret the perception that the inhabitants of the city of Valencia have about their status as citizens and the exercise of their citizenship. With a qualitative perspective of a phenomenological - interpretative nature, using the ethnographic method and the technique of semi - structured interviews. The information was obtained from 62 inhabitants of Valencia, who answered a questionnaire of 20 questions of the subject citizenship, of which 6 were taken for this advance. The interviews were conducted by the students of the first semester of the Basic Cycle of the FaCES, of the subject Methods of Investigation I, in the semester 2- 2018. According to the answers given by the informants to the questions formulated, there are some notions of the Citizenship and citizenship terms, their duties and obligations, almost completely ignore the history and symbols of the city, show little participation in political and community activities and the value they most say is solidarity.
