Los recursos naturales constituyen el eje medular para la existencia humana. Sin estos, básicamente sería imposible garantizar la vida y el bienestar de todos los seres humanos; de ahí la importancia de su protección y una explotación responsable. Ciertamente, a partir de la década de los 70, con la Declaración de Estocolmo sobre el Medio Ambiente Humano, empezó a darse una mirada más proteccionista de los recursos naturales, hecho que significó la concreción de posturas y regulaciones progresistas frente al tema. En consecuencia, el presente escrito revisa sucintamente las principales declaraciones de carácter ambiental y contrasta en algunos ordenamientos jurídicos de forma puntual la incidencia de dichos instrumentos; igualmente, se dará una mirada al nivel de eficacia de estos imperativos jurídicos.
