  • The Construction Industry Council (CIC) BIM Protocol is a UK protocol for use in projects involving building information modelling. The original document was published in 2013 to support the UK government’s BIM Strategy, and was subsequently revised in 2018.

    The protocol’s key aims are to promote and provide consistency of approach across the project team. It places specifi c contractual obligations relating to building information on the employer and the project team where the protocol is included in an appointment. The protocol is structured to achieve this with minimal amendments to existing contracts.
