En mis preguntas puedo ir, razonablemente, más allá de la naturaleza y de los contenidos de las ciencias empíricas o positivas. Por tanto, el saber sobre la naturaleza, sea filosófico o científico, no puede constituir el saber de lo último en sentido ontológico. Después de aludir a las razones en que se sustenta la tesis de que la filosofía de la naturaleza es la filosofía primera, reflexiono sobre las razones que me impulsan a defender la tesis contraria. No me parece suficientemente justificada la interpretación de Aristóteles en sentido naturalista. Los primeros principios del ser en cuanto ser no implican necesariamente el materialismo o el naturalismo. Intento mostrar que la filosofía primera culmina en la teología filosófica. Dios sería el último fundamento de la inteligibilidad del mundo y de nuestra capacidad de entenderlo. Concluyo afirmando, por esto, que la teología filosófica sería filosofía primera, en sentido ontológico, con mayor razón que la filosofía de la naturaleza. Ésta pertenecería a las filosofías segundas

My questions may reasonably go beyond the nature and content of empirical or positive sciences. Therefore, knowledge about nature, whether philosophical or scientific, cannot be knowledge of the ultimate in the ontological sense. After alluding to the reasons for maintaining the thesis that Philosophy of Nature is First Philosophy, I ponder on the reasons that impel me to defend the opposite view. The interpretation of Aristotle in naturalistic terms does not seem sufficient justification to me. The first principles of being as being do not necessarily imply materialism or naturalism. I attempt to show that First Philosophy culminates in Philosophical Theology. God would be the ultimate foundation of intelligibility of the world and our ability to understand it. I conclude by saying therefore that Philosophical Theology would be First Philosophy in the ontological sense more than Philosophy of Nature. The latter would belong to Second Philosophy.
