Resumen de De la naturaleza y distinción de las ciencias. Una aproximación desde la perspectiva aristotélica

  La pregunta por el sentido y fundamento de la ciencia sigue teniendo hoy particular actualidad. De aquí que resulte oportuno intentar explicitar la naturaleza del conocimiento científico. La pregunta ¿qué es la ciencia? no puede tener una respuesta científica pues para ello tendría que ponerse a sí misma como objeto de investigación, es decir, debería auto objetivarse. Para responder por la solidez de los fundamentos de la ciencia y garantizar la veracidad última de sus conclusiones se ha de recurrir a la filosofía en general, y a la filosofía de la ciencia en particular. Este trabajo aborda, desde la perspectiva aristotélica, el tema de la definición de las así denominadas ciencias especulativas, pues la definición, según el Estagirita, es el medio de la demostración y por tanto principio del conocimiento científico. Partiendo de la definición se intenta la caracterización de cada una de las ciencias en orden a establecer la distinción entre ellas. Finalmente se apunta alguna clave para tener en cuenta cuando se intenta relacionarlas.

  The question of the meaning and foundation of science continues to have particular relevance today. It is fitting, therefore, to seek an explanation for the nature of scientific knowledge. A scientific answer to the question: “What is science?” cannot be given because in order to do so it would be necessary for science to make itself its own object of study. In order to give a response to this question on the foundations of science and thus ensure the accuracy of its findings, we need to turn to philosophy in general and to the philosophy of science in particular. This paper deals with the issue of the definition of the so-called speculative sciences.

  According to Aristotle, a definition is the means of a demonstration and therefore the beginning of scientific knowledge. Based on a definition, we can make a characterization of each of the sciences in order to establish distinctions among them.

  Finally, the paper offers suggestions regarding how connections between sciences may be established.
