Resumen de Un movido comienzo de 2013 para Pakistán

El comienzo de 2013 ha traído consigo mucho movimiento en varios ámbitos de la actualidad de Pakistán: el intento de creación de un movimiento de masas llevado a cabo por un líder religioso, que dice querer combatir la corrupción del sistema político; la orden de arresto del primer ministro por parte del Tribunal Supremo en relación con un caso de corrupción; la oferta de negociación al Gobierno por parte del grupo Thereek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) y la muerte del líder talibán “pro-gubernamental” Mullah Nazir; enfrentamientos en la “línea de control” que actúa de frontera entre las Cachemiras pakistaní e india; o la toma de control de la provincia de Baluchistán por parte del Gobierno federal ante la incapacidad del Gobierno de la provincia para mantener el orden. Este artículo va a tratar de proporcionar un marco que permita entender el desarrollo de estos acontecimientos dentro de la dinámica general del país, sin pretender con ello responder a todas las cuestiones que se plantean que, como en tantos otros aspectos de Pakistán, son muchas y prácticamente imposibles de resolver.

2013 has shaken the news landscape of Pakistan due to several emerging issues: the attempt to create a mass movement by a religious leader, willing to fight corruption in the political system; the arrest order issued by the Supreme Court against the Prime Minister, on corruption charges; the conditional ceasefire offered to the government by the Thereek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and the death of the pro-government Taliban leader Mullah Nazir; skirmishes between Indian and Pakistani forces in the Line of Control that divides Kashmir; or the imposition of the Governor Rule by the Federal Government in Balochistan. This paper attempts to establish a framework, allowing the reader to understand all these issues in their proper context, relating them to the dynamics of the country. It is not its goal to answer all the brought up questions which, like happen with many other facets of Pakistan, would be almost impossible to be answered here.
